The CAI (Contemporary Arts Initiative) was a group of people working together to create event-based art projects that encourage community involvement. Believing that the act of making is as important as any product that might result, CAI projects were often one-night only events that relied on collaboration, participation, and spontaneity in order to exist. Reused, inexpensive, and common materials were the CAI's chosen media, keeping the projects improvised, mobile, and accessible.
